The Heart of the Matter: Our Partnership with Cai & Kate®

Bridging the gap in Early Childhood Social Emotional Learning - from our center to your screen.

Our AHpproach

At C&M, we believe that emotional literacy starts on day one. Our partnership with Cai & Kate® allows us to combine world-class emotional intelligence resources with our hands-on early childhood expertise.

We serve as the official filming location for the Minis for Minis series, a collaboration specifically designed for our earliest learners (ages 0–5). By bringing the show into our classrooms, we create a living laboratory where children don't just watch characters regulate their emotions—they practice those skills alongside them in real-time.

Our Process

Sensory Development

Sensory development is essential in early childhood because it lays the foundation for how children understand and interact with the world around them. Through touch, sight, sound, taste, smell, movement and body awareness, children begin to build important connections in the brain that support learning, attention and emotional regulation. Sensory experiences help children explore their environment, develop fine and gross motor skills, and build confidence in new situations. When sensory needs are met - through activities like messy play, movement breaks, or calming strategies - children are better able to focus, process information, and respond to the world in a healthy, balanced way. Supporting sensory development early on creates stronger learners, problem-solvers, and more self-regulated individuals as they grow.

Understanding Emotions

Understanding your own feelings is essential for children as it empowers them to navigate the complexities of their emotions effectively. When children learn to recognize and articulate their feelings, they develop greater emotional intelligence, which enhances self-awareness and self-regulation. This understanding helps them cope with challenges, reduces anxiety, and fosters resilience, enabling them to respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively. Furthermore, it lays the groundwork for healthy relationships, as children who comprehend their emotions are better equipped to communicate their needs and empathize with others. Ultimately, this emotional awareness not only supports their current well-being but also sets the stage for a balanced and fulfilling life in the future.

Social-Emotional Development

Social-emotional development is vital for children as it equips them with the skills needed to form meaningful connections and navigate social situations. By fostering strong social-emotional skills, children learn to understand and manage their emotions, recognize the feelings of others, and respond appropriately in various contexts. This foundation promotes empathy, collaboration, and effective communication, which are essential for building positive relationships both in and out of the classroom. Additionally, strong social-emotional skills enhance resilience, enabling children to face challenges with confidence and adapt to change. Ultimately, prioritizing social-emotional development not only supports children’s current happiness and success but also prepares them for a well-rounded, fulfilling future.

Our goals:

  • To move beyond “happy/sad” and help children recognize the subtle body cues of big feelings before they become overwhelming.

  • Utilizing community-based social narratives to help children ages 0-5 navigate new experiences with confidence.

  • To co-develop specialized tools and curriculum that translates philosophy into practical, daily routines for young children.
