Diversity & Inclusion Workbook
Diversity in the classroom is everywhere you turn and will only continue to become more prominent. Ensuring that children are sent into the world with a strong foundation of appreciation and respect toward others’ differences is the best way to create an empathetic generation. Representation and appreciation of different diverse characteristics of the people around us is a great way to make sure that all people and children feel seen and heard in their spaces. Throughout this workbook, we will discuss ways to cover diversity with your class and with children of all ages, why it is important, and tips on how to help children from all backgrounds feel comfortable walking through your classroom doors. Having these conversations early is what will help children understand the world around them. Children should be given the appropriate space to ask questions and seek to understand, rather than filling in the gaps with fear and incorrect information. Diversity should be cherished and taught as a regular topic, not some taboo political agenda.
