Original Business Plan
Not to toot my own horn butttt… toot toot. I just spent the last 45 minutes reading through my original C&M Play Studio business plan. I forgot how much work went into it. I get asked all the time how long it took to build it and always proudly say “three years.” However, along the way you forgot all the small details that took so much time and all the roadblocks that nearly made me throw in the towel.
It is an extremely vulnerable position to be in to lay everything out to a bunch of strangers, and to try to convince them that what you have to say is worth their time. You honestly have to sell yourself and your dream all while second guessing yourself every step of the way.
Here I was, a 27 year old with no collateral, a very low annual income, never owning a business all while asking for a big chunk of money from the bank and a large investment from the landlord to cover the cost of the buildout in my lease. What I did have was great credit, money from a few real estate investments I did, a solid business plan I worked hard on, and the inability to accept ‘no’ as an answer.
Looking at the business plan now is pretty surreal and I’m just so appreciative of anyone who has played a role in turning a packet of papers into a thriving community.
